Summary
Join ME for an action-packed paddle boarding tour across the Bay of Kotor to the village of Donji Stoliv. Setting off early (no later than 8 am) offers perfectly flat water, ideal for paddle boarding, fewer boats in the Bay and a sense of calm that most people don’t get to experience when they visit Perast.
Once we’ve crossed the bay, you will have the chance to complete an optional 45-minute (one way) steep uphill walk to the Church of Gornji Stoliv for spectacular panoramic views of the bay. As a tasty reward for your hard work we will stop at a local restaurant for brunch of homemade juice and sandwiches.
Those who opt out of the walk can relax, swim and have a drink on the terrace of a local waterfront restaurant. Following the walk/rest we will make our way back to Perast. Perast – Stoliv SUP round trip is approximately 2.5 km.
Highlights
- Spectacular views of the Bay of Kotor
- Visit the village of Stoliv
- Delicious brunch (SUP + Hike option)

Itinerary
Please note guests should be able to swim and feel comfortable in the water. Your tour will start and end in Perast, a UNESCO world heritage site, and Montenegro’s most beautiful town. We will meet at the town's main square. When you get to Perast, walk along the main road, roughly 400m from either side, and you will come to the square.
- Part 1: Welcome and introduction to SUP
- Part 2: Paddle to Donji Stoliv
- Part 3: Hill walk to Stoliv church OR rest and relax
- Part 4: Paddle back to Perast
The tour will start off with some basic, in water, paddle boarding training, for any inexperienced participants. Paddleboarding is an easy and fun activity and no previous experience is required. With a few tips from us you will be up on the board, cruising around in no time!
Once you’ve mastered the basics we will start our 1.3 km journey across the Bay of Kotor to Donji Stoliv.
If you are doing the SUP + Hike option we will stop here for a refreshing dip to cool off, followed by a quick change into our sports clothes ready for our hill climb.
The walk along the stone path up to the church is well worth the spectacular views from the top. The walk through the woods (approx. 45 mins) takes the route that the donkeys used to carry supplies up to the village. Here we will have a well-earned brunch of homemade juice and sandwiches made from freshly baked bread. Before the descent we’ll visit the church and you’ll have a chance to take photos overlooking the bay.
For those opting out of the walk, once we’ve reached the waterfront restaurant at Donji Stoliv, you can relax, enjoy a swim and have a drink.
After a post-hike swim / your drink, we will paddle back to Perast where the tour will finish.
We suggest you spend a bit of time exploring Perast, there are lots of restaurants where you can enjoy a delicious lunch. A visit to the nearby UNESCO World Heritage old town of Kotor is definitely worth it. We recommend timing your trip to see the sunset from the top of the fortress.
